Born & raised in Richmond, Virginia, about 25 miles from where my family first settled over 300 years ago. Moved to the Seattle area in 2002 because I thought it was time to move on. :-)
Been in the field of software design and development since 1993. It feeds my need to solve problems and find ways to make things just work better. I guess it's true that we usually do what we are. Along the way it has given me a chance to travel and work with some of the most successful and highly motivated people in the industry.
When people ask why I moved to the Pacific Northwest the answer is simple - quality of life and the weather. Fresh air, beautiful forests, perfect summers, the lakes, the cosmopolitan nature of the area, and the chance to connect with some of the brightest minds in software development. Besides, where else in the US is a conservative, Southern good ol' boy like me going to find a city with a statue of V. I. Lenin at a public intersection? :-o
